iPhone 3G leave some wanting more

09 Jun

I’m not going to rant nor rave about the new iPhone.  I want one and I’m not too snooty to admit it.  But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a few things missing that sure would have been nice…

Nowhere in the official release can one find the video conferencing, video recording, cut-and-paste, MMS, or red iPhones mentioned that were so many times rumored.  The screen is the same size, the phone is roughly the same shape, and the back is PLASTIC!

But there are some definite niceties – A-GPS, flush headphone jack, improved audio, metal buttons, and of course 3G included – that should please most.  And if that isn’t enough, the pricing begins at $199!

I think what we’re seeing is the way to reach Steve Jobs’ goal of 10 million iPhones sold by the end of the year.  And I’ll bet we see a higher-end iPhone next year that may complement the 3G version just announced.  That version will have all the goodies including those mentioned above, with 32GB of memory, and will cost $400 or so.

Write that down, it’s as good as gold.
