23 May

DUDE! Check out our new podcast!Terry Hoenig, Promoter at Lee County Speedway, has been talking about doing a podcast for at least a year but we FINALLY got it together!  Jake Croxton, flagman at the track, and Terry get together after each race and talk about the night’s event.  I put it together and post it on the web for all to enjoy.

If you are interested in racing, check out the podcast at http://feeds.feedburner.com/lcsracereport.  Email Terry, Jake, or me to let us know what you’d like to hear on the show or if you just want to tell us how great it is!

Top 10 finish to start the year

04 May

After testing the radiator for 10 minutes and changing a flat tire, we were ready for racing.  The car almost started completely on its own but battery wasn’t quite strong enough.  I put the charger on it for a few minutes and the ol’ number 95 sputtered to life.  It quickly came to idle and ran great all night long.

So good, in fact, that I managed 4th place in the heat race and led the feature down the front stretch after a great restart on lap 2.  I quickly settled into 4th place in the feature but got spun and hit a few times to bring out the caution.  Per track rules, I was sent to the back for being involved in the wreck that caused the yellow, and I never recovered.  Tenth place was the best I could manage.

A little damage to the rear bumper to fix this week – otherwise, she’s ready to go again.  As am I.  My entire crew – Matt – and I had a great time and really had fun.  Hopefully we can’t keep up that attitude, too!  Thanks, Matt.

We're racing – FINALLY!

02 May

By “we” I don’t necessarily mean “me”.  I have some work to do on the car and have about four hours to get it all done.  If the radiator repair holds, the rest should be gravy.  However, we haven’t tried the thing since patching it with a wood screw and some sealant.  Yes, a wood screw.

So, I better get off this here computer and get my butt to the track.  Wish me luck… not to win, but simply to ENTER the race!

Races cancelled tonight

25 Apr

Muddy pits at the trackFans of the Wild Thing #95 (all three of you) are going to have to wait one more week to see us in action.  The races at Lee County Speedway have been cancelled tonight.

Apparently the rain and lack of sun were too much for the dirt to absorb.  I took a look at the pits last night and there was standing water in many places as you can see in the pic.

Bummer…  I guess you have to expect a couple of these early throughout the season.  Hopefully this is just one bad week out of the way!
